A century of change

Some years ago I paid very little for a 1920s telephone table. I had it striped and polished except for the door. The restorer and I agreed that if we touched the door we'd lose the peacock motif. A good decision.

One hundred years ago an oak telephone table (you sat on the low part) to go with a telephone, the latest innovation for well to do homes. Twenty-first century electronics have their place, but without the grace and charm of the oak, they'd be completely bland.

Today's gratitude: For vacuuming my own home for the first time in 7 months. That's something I never thought I'd be pleased about!
