Waiting for the fish run
Mid afternoon I went for a run along the foreshore, below the high tide mark . From Southend around to Fidelis Beach and thence to Algies Bay. Then up to Highfield Reserve and back. More running than even a week or so ago. And feeling good, rather than my age.
Still too much middle of the day when only Mad dogs and Englishmen (and obsessional antipodean runners) are out and about. The Tara (White-breasted tern) were gathered together (at least some of them were) on the rock platform at Fidelis Point. The solitary Taranui (Caspian Tern) which is often with oystercatchers (but was with the Tara today) raised the alarm itself by flying off when I was still more than 50 m away. The Tara all took flight; however, they only moved about 10m to another part of the rock platform.
I was able to get this photo of one of the many Tara
