Calne Town Gardens (Friday 2nd April 2021)

These wood anemones were rather more pristine when I photographed them last Saturday, but this somewhat battered flower is possibly more interesting photographically now.

As I mentioned yesterday there was a wild bunch of these elsewhere on Curzon Street but by Thursday they had disappeared so I had to return to the Town Gardens for this blip.

Although these were planted, they look exactly the same as the others, so I presume they are wildflowers and so suitable for Miranda1008's WildFlower Week in addition to BikerBear's Flower Friday, with many thanks to both for hosting.

I picked up the same camera as on Thursday and forgot to change the settings, so instead of processing to exaggerate abstract qualities I was trying to make the image look more normal! I have now made the relevant changes on the camera.

Brenda Holloway - A Favor For A Girl (With A Love Sick Heart) (recorded March-April 1964, in Detroit MI and Los Angeles CA)
Brenda Holloway was Motown's first girl signing to their West Coast operation where she had already cut some demos produced by Ed Cobb, including her first release and big hit Every Little Bit Hurts. He had written Tainted Love for Gloria Jones and she and Brenda's sister Patrice Holloway provided backing vocals on many of Brenda Holloway's records. However she had to play second fiddle on her singles to the Supremes, who always got priority promotion, and so didn't get the sales she deserved. This song marks her first visit to the Hitsville Studio in Detroit when on 3 March 1964 she put down this vocal. Overdubs including backing vocals were then added in Los Angeles, but although intended as a single, that was never released. It was on the album Every Little Bit Hurts in 1964, but not on CD until her Motown Anthology 2CD in 2005, which I was replaying on this day.
