A sweet present

Across the street lives an old lady. A very sweet lady. Every now and then I go see if she needs anything, specially now with all covid-rules. At first she was very afraid of the whole covid- situation, and going out for groceries wasn’t an easy thing for her. So we helped out. Of course we did, why wouldn’t we?! We did think as this as very normal. But she doesn’t. She baked a cake some time ago, spoiled me with fruit and flowers from het garden. And today she was at our door: now that she has her second vaccination for 4 weeks ago she felt safe enough to go to the shop in town centre by herself to get us this sweet surprise. She was so happy, and had such fun giving this to us that it moved me to tears! At the door I was all smile and laughs, but when she was gone I couldn’t keep the tears away... her happiness was so intense, as if she was smiling the smiles from a whole year in one moment...
