From Mexico City to Frankfurt

Flights into Edinburgh have virtually ceased. A pre-pandemic Easter saw the sky full of planes bringing visitors in and sun seeking holiday makers jetting out. Today the clear blue sky high-lit the long haul flights traversing the Scottish capital. This one was a Lufthansa 747 at 39000ft returning to Frankfurt from Mexico City.

The warm sunshine made Porty’s monthly market a socially distanced honeypot this morning. I do enjoy the conviviality of the all age community here. With the low tide there was plenty of space on the beach for all the “stay local” visitors too!

The afternoon sun lured us to Musselburgh to walk and watch “behind closed doors” a couple of the races on the opening day of the flat season.

The clear night sky raises my hopes of seeing the northern lights although there are no specific alerts tonight. To see them properly I would need to drive into the currently forbidden lands of East Lothian as the city lights are a distraction. There was a good sighting from Haddington on Thursday.
