Golden weed
This plant is called Easter Cassia. Botanically it is Senna pendula var. glabrata. It is a bush up to 2m tall and wide and, right now, is flowering prolifically around here.
It originated in South America and was introduced into Australia as a garden plant in the 1950s. It has escaped from cultivation and is now widespread in bushland regions of eastern Australia, especially in warmer climates. It is regarded as an 'environmental weed' because it out-competes native plants and invades native ecosystems.
The extra shows the weather radar for our area at the moment. The rain in the north of the screen is heading our way. We are forecast to get up to 150 mm of rain over the next few days. No blue sky blips from me for a while!
