Socialising

Tom left first thing and I had that strange empty sadness I always feel when one of them leaves. I took Juno out for a walk to clear my head and as we left the house the ‘snow’ started. It was already bitterly cold and I wasn’t in a great mood, however we had a good stomp through the fields before bumping into neighbours and their little pup Ruby. The dogs had never met off lead before and they were delighted to chase each other around for almost 10 minutes while we humans chatted. Five minutes later we met another pup - a young collie and Juno did the same - by the time we got home she was exhausted, the sun was coming out and my mood had lifted.

Friends Claire and Marcus came for tea in the garden and as they are vegan I’d made this lemon cake which worked surprisingly well despite no eggs or butter. I put the electric blanket over the bench to keep them warm... it was lovely to socialise - hopefully we are on the path to increased opening up....
