Indoor persuits!

Today was definitely a day for indoor persuits! Frequent snow showers, blizzards at times, and then very brief bright sunshine. Goodness, it was cold! The NW wind was bitter, unsurprisingly!

When I came back from Ruth's, who is getting stronger and more able to do things for herself now, Mike and I batterned down the hatches!  The rest of the day was spent reading, doing crosswords, one of us knitted, the other worked on their model boat, and we sustained ourselves with hot cross buns and Simnel cake!

It was the best one I've ever made. Lots of candied peel and plenty of nutmeg and cinnamon. I've always used the Be-ro recipe but this year used an old Good Housekeeping one. I'm tempted to make it again for my birthday!
