Lustleigh Village Cross

Drove a bit further today to walk from Bovey Tracey to Lustleigh. This is a quintessential Devon village with a multitude of thatching. The Village Cross was erected as a memorial to the Reverend Henry Tudor, rector of Lustleigh who died early in the 20th century. The lower pedestal forms a useful seat to sit quietly and take in the peaceful surroundings of the village. Nearby ,on the ground, lies a broken granite trough which is now in use as a flower container. We ate our sandwiches, purchased from the Primrose cafe, in the town orchard. This lovely village even has old photographs of village scenes on the telegraph poles.
