The Old Plantation, Plantation Lane

This was a pub of that name until the building and gardens were sold for development. Two large detached houses were built on the garden, each sold for over £800k, the pub itself went for over £1m.

Understandably, there was much local opposition to the plan, losing a pub was not welcome. In truth despite it being a large building the actual space inside was relatively small and I don’t think it could generate enough trade.

The building itself is from the 16-17th century and has been a grade two listed building since 1952. It probably originally was a house and I haven’t been able to find out when it became a pub.

I accompanied Susan on her first care home visit this morning. Only one person was allowed in after a lateral flow test so I sat and waited in the car in the warm sunshine. That’s the first of many such visits we will be doing over the next few months.

Morning was also the best part of the day; by the time we went out for our walk skies were grey with the threat of snow flurries. It held off though and we were able to get home and in the warm without further ado.
