Dog's weather

Finnish idiom koiranilma is in English dog's weather and it means bad/awful weather. And that's what we had today. One explanation for the saying is that since dogs were used to guard the house and stayed outdoors regardless of the weather, the idiom would have developed from a meaning such as a weather that only a dog has to bear.

We had evening walk in the arboretum and we were almost only ones there.
