Wintery sunshine
Baltic cold again today ,still with a biting North wind and numerous brief flurries of powdery snow. It didn't lie but not nice on the old lugs.
When I went to feed the outside cows, K26 had calved ,on the top of the hill and the calf was looking pretty chilly,so chucked it on the back of the quad and made my usual calf noises while she chased us in at a rate of knots. Milked her out but she only had about half a litre in her so mixed up some powdered colostrum with it and tubed the calf and shut them both in a pen.
Sent Kev off up the hill with the 5 star lambing caravan ready for next week. When he came back sent him off to put some turnips out to various fields for the sheep as this cold wind and frost has stopped any grass growth in its tracks.
It's still a cold wind tonight when I was out feeding K 26s calf tonight. Hopefully it will have the brains to figure out that you are meant to suck the 4 dangling things under mum by tomorrow.
