Watendlath

A small hamlet and delighful tarn some miles up into the hills overlooking Derwentwater. Reached by a single track road (not for the faint hearted or those who cannot reverse) A misty day and it is very quiet and peaceful. The one cafe is closed but they are obviously getting read for the season. The farmer is herding sheep with the expert help of a collie. Two identical Jack Russells come flying out of a door scattering the ducks purposefully. They have a quick skirmish with each other by the tarn and are back the way they came (scattering the resettled ducks once again) A couple of walkers cross the bridge, the tarn is covered in ice. Apart from that nothing happens. I am glad I came here today - a small collection of old buildings and a stretch of icy water surrounded by still snowy hills.
