More studying

No, I’m not doing another degree!
I do, however, miss the studying - so I have decided to use and extend aspects of the research I did for my MA dissertation, which was on the representation of women and money in two novels by Charles Dickens.
The more I read about women in the 19th century the more I wondered just what my life would have been if I had been born to working-class parents 100years earlier - in 1840! I certainly would not have become a Pharmacist - I probably would not have even attended school.
The changes in the education of girls during the second half of the century made vast changes to the level of literacy and also to the literature aimed specifically at middle and lower class women, particularly women’s magazines.
So, I have set myself a project - to research and consider the progress of women’s education and working life during the 19th century. No rigid boundaries, word count, or time deadline - just keeping my brain active for so long as I feel the need to do so!
