Braes o Doune Windfarm
Up the Gowan Hill this morning for some fresh air after a day at the desk yesterday. Braes o Doune is probably 8 miles away but the air was clear and I managed without the mega zoom lens. The sky was interesting too.
There are 36 turbines at Braes o Doune I believe. The windfarm opened in 2007 and there was opposition of course. People don't like windfarms for their looks, for their negative impact on wildlife and for the destruction of the terrain on which they're built. I understand these objections but on balance I'd rather see wind turbines than nuclear power plants. Or coal fired ones. If you've ever been to Caithness in the very North East of Scotland's mainland you'll see more wind turbines than you can imagine and the nuclear plant at Dounreay. An interesting contrast.
That's my blip for today. Off to the supermarket now then back for more Community Council discussions about temporary changes to local street layout. Who knew?
Wishing you all a good weekend
