Down de Islands

My father's company had a holiday house on one of the islands off the North West coast of Trinidad as described in length on this earlier Blip.

To get there we had to drive from Port of Spain through the American Navy base at Chaguaramas which required a permit. Once through one came to the Trinidad & Tobago Coastguard base which also had a civilian pier for people to get to their holiday homes.

In our case, the holiday home was staffed 24/7 by a boats/handy man and his wife. He would come over in the company boat, sometimes his own larger "native" long fishing boat as seen on the right and collect us for the shortish journey to Monos Island. The pier also had a petrol station and basic groceries and was thus sometimes visited during the week to stock up.
