SMD LED

This is a bit of a new quiz question. What is a SMD LED? My blip's are not so imaginative lately, due to being rather oppressed at work. Hopefully, I can get out more and 'photoblip' other more interesting artefacts, humans or events.

This SMD does not work :(

A. SMD stands for surface mount device, light electric (LED) diode. This is the latest technology in lighting, it gives out as much light as an old 50 Watt light bulb but uses only 4.5 Watts. It is supposed to last 55, 000 hours. Whoops......these only seem to last around 5 hours if you are lucky. Is this another case of hype over reality, dodgy technology made in Taiwan or China?

Hoping for a light bulb moment......and my money back?
