Not what you think.

Looking like the family jewels even if a little wanting in quantity, these were only the crystals on the lid of a tub of vegetable stew removed from the freezer for my dinner today.

It was another cold day with frozen fingers on the bike and a cold walk before a blissfully warming coffee sitting at the kitchen table.

Just in case the weather doesn’t deter any gathering of hooligans on the Meadows today, the police are already in attendance, patrolling the park. Apparently the message has got through to the powers that be that enough is enough for the residents surrounding the area and there is to be more done in future to prevent the mayhem of last weekend.

My covid ponytail is about to go later this afternoon when I visit the hairdresser. It’s 6 months since my hair was cut, so it Is going to be quite an occasion.

This being a daily journal I feel I should record the death today off Princes Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. I do remember as a teenager thinking he was extremely good looking- a bit like a Greek God even if he was actually of Danish extraction.
My only connection to him was that, being the Chancellor of Edinburgh University, he was on the platform at my Graduation in 1962.The other story I have of him was about his presence with the Queen at an architectural function in Dundee at which my brother- in - law was present, when the Duke said to the assembled crowd after being separated from the Queen- ‘Has anyone seen my wife? ‘ to which one wag replied, ‘ what does she look like?’
