The Duke’s awards

As we have spent this evening watching tributes to and memories of the Duke of Edinburgh who died today at the grand old age of 99 much has been said about his support and encouragement of young people particularly the Duke of Edinburgh bronze, silver and gold awards.

Mrs AMK doesn’t know where her bronze award is but as we chatted about it she quickly produced her silver and gold awards achieved more than 50 years ago and of which she is justifiably proud. Neither she or her 2 brothers ( twins) were particularly academic by her own admission but the fact that all of them were awarded D of E gold awards as they finished their schooling must have made their parents very proud.
