The difference a year makes

These are two photos of the same neighbour's entrance. The photo on the left was taken on 8 May 2020. The vine hadn't completely turned into its autumn glory. The photo on the right was taken today. It has completely turned and is starting to lose its leaves. Why has this happened so much earlier this year? Is it because we had a very mild summer?
