One Green Bottle..

This Victorian glass bottle is from The Palatine Mineral Works, Wigan which was producing carbonated drinks in the late 1800s. Known locally as the Pop Works, there’s nothing remaining of the company but these green glass bottles, complete with their marbles, can still be found in local antique shops.
My dad always called marbles ‘pop alleys’ which I think comes from a time when children would smash the bottles to get at the marble inside.
