Park scene

A busy Pilrig Park today, with a couple of football games going on, parents standing (quietly) watching the games (see the cautionary signage) people walking through the blossom avenue (edge of it just visible here), and lots of people sitting and chilling (including some in shorts who were way more optimistic about the air temperature than I was). It was all good to see.

In the way of ‘opening up’, we’ve confirmed a couple of days away at the end of April in Dumfries and Galloway (which we haven’t visited since we came to live in Scotland), and I’ve been seeing a lot of social media content about pubs and haircuts from south of the border today. Things do, finally, appear to be looking up. Fingers crossed that the progressive opening up does not lead to a surge in cases.

Book group this evening. I enjoyed the book (Natalie Haynes, A Thousand Ships), and I suspect most of the rest of the group will have done as well. Very clever retelling of the story of Troy via the impact on the women. In some ways, though, gleefully modern. Fairly soon, I must go and fire up the zoom room.
