Lapland Bunting
Having pretty well eluded me in Autumn, I caught up with a few of them today on their return to the breeding grounds in the High Arctic.
I have a suspicion they are now meant to be called Lapland Longspur but that is not a name I've ever got into the habit of using. You can make out the eponymous long hind claw in the image but I would suggest it is not the first thing you notice in this dapper male bird.
