Blue-Winged Teals
Their confidence must have been swelled by numbers, because usually the ducks fly away when I approach, even when still at some distance. Either that, or they were otherwise preoccupied.
The light on the water this evening was unusually clear, but made processing quite a challenge. I wanted to see detail in the ducks, but they were dark shapes against an almost white backdrop. They were perched on the log which the turtles usually occupy on a sunny day.
I rapidly took my first shot without composing in case they got spooked and then quietly took several others, more carefully. I didn't dare move closer.
