Change and decay

Just over our back fence we have a papaya (pawpaw) tree growing on a neglected roadside verge. I like the contrast between the dead and decaying old leaf and the succulent ripening fruit. 

We've been here for a few years and have never seen ripe fruit on the tree. Maybe neighbours are also watching the ripening. Or flying foxes.
