Hulme Park Priory
We met #3 daughter and son-in-law for a 6 mile walk and picnic in the Duke’s parkland, open to the plebs (minus dogs) between 11 and 4.30.
The children are in different clubs this week. Nathaniel has joined his chums at football and Ella has been on a multi-activity one. She has had a go at cricket and is enamoured, so the parents are joining a club (£20) so they she can go on Friday nights. Only £40 for her - £100 for boys - to encourage girls. The parents envisage sunny summer evenings having a drink while the children are kept busy. They’ve forgotten the lashing rain we get in summer I think. Though it must be better than hanging about the Falcons rugby training ground on winter Sundays.
Now I’m sitting with my foot up. I gather BBC has had more complaints than ever before about all their channels devoted to the death of the D of E. some of the complaints were from people who thought BBC had made it too easy to complain. You couldn’t make it up.
Meanwhile all the shops and outdoor pubs etc opened yesterday. Queues at midnight outside Primark.
A contrast of ex Prime Ministers priorities. Cameron being investigated for lobbying for a company he was involved with. (He ‘did no wrong’ but maybe things will be tightened as a result.). The arrogance of the Eton crew knows no bounds. Gordon Brown (Kirkcaldy High School) is trying to persuade G7 countries to finance the vaccine for the developing world.
