Best surprise ever

I was driving past Trexler Park where K and I usually walk and saw a big bird fly across the road, so of course I pulled in to investigate. It was grey and misty (of course) and after taking a few pics, I found myself wondering why that hawk looked like it had ears - then I froze and whispered “holy f—k,” just as he did a slow head swivel and looked right at me. It was magical.
Of course, my next thought was that I’m probably dying because one of my “now I can die happy” things is being so close to a massive owl in the wild. (I had to change it to “massive” after we had the screech owl in the yard :)
