The Mill behind the Millinery
Something for Ellaphant, who wanted to know what 'my mill' was like. Unfortunately nothing like the ones in the Netherlands, but it is quite a feature.
Its not visible from the road, as nestles at the back of our house. We've been told our downstairs living room used to be a shed. The house has had lots of additions and conversions. When we had our windows repaired, the workmen found that our central lounge window was actually resting on the top half of a wooden stable door, which was enclosed by bricks each side. We believe the windmill was reduced in height in the war, and we know our upstairs bedrooms were added in the 1970s at some point. We did have a vision of trying to rebuild the tower, but there is now another house right next to it. So at present it is just a storeroom! It was my original ;'hat work room' hence the name Mill House Millinery.
