Changes of Scene
The changes might not be so evident without reference to where we began almost seven months ago, but I like to take the occasional picture through the bedroom door just to remind myself that we have come quite a long way. Here is how it looked back then.Today's picture is how the same area is looking now. The field was mowed and lot of the burned trees were cut down and chipped today. The pebbles between the concrete in the patio have been replaced with pavers making it possible for John to go outside with his scooter.
The horrible unfinished house coated with flapping plastic and surrounded by piles of rotting boards and construction debris is still there, somewhat screened by the huge eucalyptus trees which are coming back. The foundation is the one thing out there I wish HAD burned down in the fire and yet it survived to have a whole house plonked down on top of it.
Today's main accomplishment was to cut down six black aphid infested fava bean plants and drag them into our field. We will never plant fava beans again....now I'm finishing up the last bit of binding on the quilt so I can deliver it tomorrow. Pretty exciting....
