The bonfire
Today we had a rare bonfire in our local wildlife area, to get rid of the prunings from Winter coppicing which were too small to be used as beanpoles or other plant supports. Colin, our resident pyromaniac pyromaster, was in charge, first getting us to move the wood pile, to ensure no slow worms /snakes/ hedgehogs were hiding within, before building the fire. Here Colin is demonstrating to Martin how to feed the fire, as well as fulfil a primal need! The material, being so dry, burnt very well, and we enjoyed delicious, fire-baked, potatoes for lunch.
