Al Khamis Mosque

Is believed to be the first mosque in Bahrain and has stood here since the 8th.  Century though the current ruins, which include the two beautifully restored minarets date from the 12th and 13th centuries.   The mosques name comes from the Thursday market that was held from here for centuries.
