Watching and Waiting.....
The weather has now settled into a pattern. The mornings start with a chill but the clear blue skies soon allow the sun to provide some much welcome heat.
I’m still waiting for the first cuckoo to arrive, waiting for that morning when I hear it’s call from the trees nearby. Today was not to be that day.
Instead it was a day of enjoying this moment.
The graceful gliding of the Red Kites. So elegant the way they soar through the skies, changing direction so quickly with a simple movement of the tail.
The Blackbird bathing. Dipping it’s head and wiggling it’s body, creating a shower of water around. The three sparrows who came to stand in the shower. The queue of small birds in the nearby bush, chattering away as they wait for their turn.
The little lambs playing together in the trees. Heard not seen, but their playful calls evoked images of chasing and bouncing.
The Jackdaws, gathering in the branches nearby. Swooping down to the patio to gather the newly offered bread. The first time I’ve noticed how graceful, how effortless their flight can be.
The daffodils catching the light so wonderfully, glowing in the sunshine and looking so perfect against the blue of the sky.
A day of waiting and wondering.
Why wish for tomorrow when today is just perfect?
