Caught in the light

We decided to push our plans for an out-of-town walk back a day, in tribute to yesterday’s socialising. But we did take a fairly long walk after breakfast, up to the weir, back down to collect a UPS parcel that had been left at a shop on Portland Place rather than being delivered, and then finally along to Tiso, where both of us bought new walking shoes.

Not content with that amount of exercise, I then headed out on the bike later on in the afternoon, and did a circuit of Arthur’s Seat. Holyrood Park was actually surprisingly quiet. Not so Pilrig Park, although most of the groups I could see looked as if they were rule-compliant. I hadn’t actually been out on the bike for exercise for months. The last time I did, which was some time last summer or early autumn, I got caught in a rain storm and had to abandon rather early, as I wasn’t equipped. I’m actually significantly out of practice with cycling, so I was curious to see how I would get on with the steep pull up to Dunsapie Loch. It was hard, of course, but seemed reasonably ok. I forgot to time that section, as I would like to repeat it and see whether I can get faster (I’m sure it won’t get easier...). I didn’t stop to take any photographs, so consequently my blip (and extra) are from this morning when the quality of the light was significantly better than it was this afternoon. One of the reasons for taking a few pictures of the Bonnington Gormley was that he is running out of water. The plug has been pulled on the Water of Leith. He looked as if he was wearing white socks. I could see parts of his legs that I had never seen before.

My turn to cook, and I made a chicken and chorizo pasta thing. Then we watched a programme about bent coppers that Mr A has been angsting to see.

The UPS delivery was another pair of earbuds, replacements for the ones that didn’t work. The firm sorted out the replacement when I sent them an email describing the problem. All they asked for was a copy of a proof of purchase and a photograph of the buds in their case. It then took around 14 days for the new buds to arrive. So now I am the proud owner of two sets of earbuds, which I think is one more pair than anyone needs...
