Preston on Stour

It's been another nice day, weather-wise.   Not so good for Dan Evans who lost his match in the doubles final, but it was very close.

We had our usual Sunday zoom session this morning, sadly lacking in participants, though it was good to talk to Tom and Rachel.  The original plan for today was to meet Emma this afternoon but she's very busy and needed to head off to Silverstone for work.  So we took a little drive out to the village of Preston on Stour for a walkabout. 

We've been there before but it's a lovely village and well worth another visit.  One of the first things we noticed was that there were three Jacob sheep in the churchyard.   There is repair work going on to the church's outer wall and the sheep were by the piles of bricks.  The churchyard is on quite a steep slope and I suspect it's easier to keep the grass short using sheep rather than a mower.  Sheep is in the extras.

We went for a walk out of the village onto a large grassy area by the river.  The is a very interesting grass mound from which a good viewpoint can be obtained.  Having recently seen the film The Dig it made me wonder?  The adjacent field was awash with yellow, rapeseed probably, Ann is chatting to a local regarding the ongoing footpath, it leads to Atherstone on Stour then onto Clifford Chambers.
