Ye Olde Beverlie

The other weekend we visited the garden behind St Stephen's Almshouses. There are now four new cottages there. We learnt that a major portion of their income comes from the Shepherd Neame Brewery which rents the pub building though they had an arrangement for reduced payments this last year. It's lovely to see it open again - it has a biggish garden at the back. In olden days it was the sexton's house who had a sideline in brewing beer.
