Another coolish start to the day reminds us that autumn is well and truly here. A scorching rest of the day made us almost forget.

There are cracks in my lawn I can fit my hand down. We could do with some serious rain, and soon. The farmers are really struggling.

The evening light and the beautiful colours down at the river make for very pretty photos at the moment.

All too soon, the golden leaves will be gone and the bare dark branches will once again reach for the sky until spring.

I'm making a fish pie. Really hungry now, so had better get on with it.
