Since my paper maps are so old I hadn't realised that the Cumbria Coastal Way no longer exists as a long distance trail.  Information about this retrogressive step here.  The route of the CCW perversely avoided this viewpoint anyway, passing along the east side of the crest and therefore yielding no extensive view to the west!
