Commemorative pavement
The housing estate where I live is near (very near) the battle of Pinkie Cleugh (1547, which the English won decisively), and as part of the finishing of the estate, the builders are putting commemorative aspects in place. The latest are a series of quotes from people who fought in the battle such as the one you see here.
In 1547, William Patten accompanied Lord Somerset’s army to Scotland in the capacity of a Judge of the Marshalcy by the appointment of the Earl of Warwick. For more information on William Patten: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Patten_(historian)
It’s nice that the battle is being remembered, after all, a lot of lives were lost in the battle.
I hope you have had a good day.
