‘Finishing Touches’

The coots are at it again! 

Following last year’s success at raising a family, the coots have been busy nest building in the middle of Inverleith Pond. 

The nest looks like it’s appeared out of the water - it must be very shallow at that point - and the coots have now created quite a substantial island home for themselves and their their new family! 

One of them looks like they have taken up residence  there pretty permanently, and I haven’t been able to see any sign of eggs yet, but when I passed by this evening a bit of last minute maintenance - with twig in beak ready for transfer - was taking place!
