On the spur of the moment we bought an iPad recently. It was a good deal, helped the friend who was selling it, and we'd been thinking for ages about buying one but couldn't decide which one.  It was still in the sealed box and like most Apple products was beautifully packaged.
As we were setting it up I decided to try out the camera, really just to make sure it worked. My Macbook Air was sitting on a table runner, near the edge of the table, so I used the big screen of the iPad to set up a vaguely pleasing image and pressed the button.

What's that HEIC?  Turns out it's a new format for pictures, so far used only by Apple, but soon to arrive in Windows and some non-Apple phones.  Better quality pictures needing much less storage space.
