Needless road on a rubbish day

Love the name of this road in Perth. It leads onto Pointless Avenue and completely Unecessary Way (actually the last 2 are lies but there is a Necessity Brae nearby. )One of the theories for its name is that it was a route employed by carters who stopped needlessly to water their animals when common sense dictated they carry on to Perth, but this seems a bit unlikely doesn't it.
Rubbish day as my car window chose today - the coldest, wettest, windiest of the year so far - to stop working when it was only half way up. Now have a piece of plastic where there should be a window :(
