From Baugé to Compostelle?

This quite unusually decorated 'No 1' raises a few questions. Is it on the way to St Jacques de Compostelle? If yes, why the golden rooster? Am I a notorius clod or have I missed something? (I find it pretty but would've rather had them re paint their wall). Here's the opposite side of the gable. Funny place!
