EARTH DAY: Shards of Sorrow
While walking in a remote area today, Angus & I saw these shards of a broken plate. On each piece there was written words that seem to show this person was terribly hurt by another.(SEE EXTRA) There was a pervasive sense of sorrow that brought tears to my eyes, in this desolate place. I suspect this was a cathartic gesture, where the person wrote a message on this plate & threw it into the abyss. If I am correct, it may be a great idea--that is, take a ceramic plate, write down all the details & break free of the sadness. It is Earth Day, so cleaning up the pieces of this symbolic gesture is recommended.
EARTH DAY was first celebrated in 1970, in the US. Now there are
20 million Americans who join at schools & communities to learn about the environment & how to protect it. In Palos Verdes, California, high school students rode their horses to school to illustrate a creative way to minimize
the use of gasoline vehicles.
Climate change has added an urgency to this celebration. Today,
our President Joe Biden is hosting a CLIMATE SUMMIT with world leaders.
Many times Pres. Biden has said, we can accomplish anything when we work together. How refreshing it is to have a leader who finally tackles climate change, & invites everyone to the table.
HAPPY EARTH DAY!
