Over the river

A routine admin morning made a bit more exciting by meeting H’s cat – Fat Molly (or possibly Big Molly) on the stairs. I had always thought the only cat in the area was the ginger one beside the gate into the park. This very large tabby spends most of her time in the allotment with H.
The cat theme continued the afternoon when I dropped off a ‘mindful cats’ jigsaw for L, I could see L and Islay having lunch in the back garden so I left it in the front porch without disturbing them.
I walked to Stalks and Stems in Shawlands to get some vegetables, it’s the only place that seems to sell yellow courgettes and then into Queens Park. I had a notion for an ice cream and was disappointed that Ginesi’s Gelato in Victoria Road are only taking cash, I will know for next time. Onwards to the Southern Necropolis and a search for grave of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson which was clearly marked and is top right in the blip. My final destination was to the Barrowland Ballroom where there is a new mural inspired by Douglas Stuart’s Shuggie Bain (bottom left). This involved a short walk on the south bank of the Clyde crossing into Glasgow Green at the Polmadie footbridge. The Templeton on the Green (top right) is one of my favourite buildings, it used to be a carpet factory and dominates the area.
And the cat theme concluded by coming across the Purrple Cat Café in the Trongate (bottom right, minus the cafe). The place is a ‘forever’ home for 30 rescue cats and an eatery for people. There were folk inside getting ready to open next week, I saw no cats. By this time I had covered 8 miles so opted to get the train home.
