Blackthorn Blossom
Feeling brighter today, so I`ve got more done. It`s been sunny and warm and dry with very little wind. Geordie has been outside for most of the day, and loving it.
We drove up to Gillingshill Nature Reserve this morning, and knew when we arrived that we were the only folks there. There`s a tiny carpark for 3 cars and it was empty. We walked up one side to the reservoir and down the other side. I saw so many lovely things. Daffodils, primroses, and our first bluebells. Pussy willows starting to open, and masses of beautiful Blackthorn blossom. The birds were in fine voice, providing a lovely accompaniment to our walk. And the air was full of the coconut scent of the gorse. I spent a lot of time taking photos and Geordie just pottered around waiting patiently. We only saw one swan on the reservoir, and Geordie kept a close eye on him when he had a paddle and a drink.
This afternoon I made a cold frame out of a shelving unit from the shed, strong polythene, and lots of sticky tape. A bit of a Blue Peter project. The flower seedlings are growing fast so I wanted to be able to put them outside soon, if the weather permits, so the cold frame will help with the hardening-off process.
