Don't want to go home

Glorious day. The sky was so blue, albeit there was a slight chill in the air. Heavy ground frost overnight.

We ambled round Dishley Pool where there are far too many swans. The man continues to come and feed them and video them. I suspect he was cross when Basil chased a few of them into the water. Not that it really bothered them. They came ashore after we passed by. The man refused to speak to us.

Basil did a lot of sniffing. The photo shows him as we were approaching the car. He knew where we were and he didn't want to go home. He does this a lot. I simply walk ahead and say 'Bye.' That usually does the trick.

On the way home, we stopped at The Old Curiosity Bookshop in Hathern, the first time we'd been there since last summer. I asked the lady how she'd been managing. 'By the skin of our teeth,' she replied.

Lovely to sit outside and enjoy a decent, freshly made pot of tea with a gluten free tart, and a second hand copy of C J Sansom's 'Dark Fire.'

I gave the lady a copy of my book. She was surprised and pleased.
