Ring-billed Gulls

I have called these birds seagulls or gulls since I was old enough to talk, but I finally decided to look them up in the Audubon Field Guide and discovered that the correct name is "Ring-billed Gull".  They do have a black ring around their bill so it's a very appropriate name for them.   So now I know.  They will always be "seagulls" or "gulls" to me though.   
It was very quiet at the pond this afternoon - not very many people, birds, ducks or geese and these two gulls.
