Green burial

Shamed by the state of my bedside table when I blipped my books yesterday, I made a start on sorting out the bomb site that masquerades as our bedroom. Job 1 was to clear some clutter out of my wardrobe. We've been doing this steadily, a little too steadily, and have a box in which things to leave the house are placed. Ideally, anything for recycling at the tip goes in one box and things for Oxfam or eBay go in another.

I had a mound of shoes and boots in the bottom of my wardrobe, at least half of them stage shoes and most of the others with heels. As I can only infrequently wear shoes without my orthotics and I would only wear heels to a black tie do now, it seems pointless to have them cluttering up my life staring back at me. So they are now in the box and I can see my wardrobe floor. All rather cathartic.

Part of me wanted to set fire to the box and float it down the Itchen in a mini Viking burial. But instead I'll take the sensible green option and recycle them via Oxfam. Well possibly not the boots - they seem to be going for a decent price on eBay!

And now for the rest of the room......
