Elevated

This was a bit of a fluke.

I was just leaving the nature reserve after a lunchtime visit and this female Orange-tip landed next to me. As I was lining up my picture a male approached from the left, the female elevated their abdomen and (apparently) emitted hormones to signal to the male that they had already mated. And I appear to have snapped that key moment.

Otherwise a pleasant enough walk on another nice day, and another new set of ducklings on their first swim (extra). And I saw my first Large White butterfly of the year.
