Lakeside Tulip Festival, Morges
Another gorgeous day weatherwise, and a very early start at 6 am to take and early train to Morges. It was the only way to be able to capture the beautiful tulip plantations before the hoardes of visitors!
This time, I encouraged Jean to take an early start to the day (it's not given to everyone!) It was really worth it and there was hardly a soul in the park at 7.15 am! We could walk around for an hour and a half in peace. Then we sat on a bench to eat our breakfast which we'd taken with us!
More walking... until everywhere became overcrowded. It seemed that the whole of Switzerland wanted to see the tulips!
We had a delicious lunch on an outside terrace we know overlooking the lake.
Photos: the main photo shows the park as it was when we arrived. still partially in the shade. I love the alley of lakeside trees just getting their fresh green leaves.
Extras:
- The Morges Castle, first built by Louis of Savoy, Baron of Vaud in the thirteenth century. It was rebuilt after partial destruction at least twice in later centuries.
- Collage of the lovely alleyway of trees and three of my favorite tulips.
It's already late this evening, so you'll excuse me if I don't comment on all your lovely photos until tomorrow and thank you also for leaving your kind comments to yesterday's captures.
